Motorcyclist Killed in Highway 30 Crash East of Filer; Pickup Driver Taken Into Custody
A Twin Falls man died Friday evening after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on Highway 30 east of Filer, and the driver of that pickup has been taken into custody, according to the Idaho State Police.
The crash occurred just before 5:30 p.m. when a 39-year-old Twin Falls man riding a Harley-Davidson westbound on Highway 30 was struck by a Nissan Frontier. The pickup driver, a 49-year-old Twin Falls man, had been traveling southbound on E 2600 N and attempted to cross Highway 30 when the collision occurred.
Emergency personnel transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital by ambulance, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The pickup driver remained at the scene, was not transported, and was medically cleared before being taken into custody. Officials confirmed he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office, Filer Fire Department, and Magic Valley Paramedics all responded to assist ISP. Highway 30 was closed temporarily but has since reopened. The investigation remains ongoing.
This is at least the second fatal crash in the Filer area in recent weeks.
