Twin Falls, Idaho, updated its long-term strategic plan in late October, extending the document through 2040.
The 61-page plan follows nearly three decades of population growth in which Twin Falls’ population almost doubled. The city has used a comprehensive strategic plan to guide responsible growth since 2012.
The updated plan organizes its priorities around five areas: healthy, secure, environmental, prosperous and learning communities.
The healthy-community section includes quality open spaces. The learning-community section addresses the future of the Twin Falls Public Library. A planned expansion of the library plaza at the city’s first park combines the learning and healthy-community priorities.
Tina Downs, a Twin Falls neighbor, said she supports bringing the library and park together.
“I think it’s wonderful that they are thinking ahead and I do like the idea of the library and the park being combined together,” Downs said.
Twin Falls City Manager Travis Rothweiler said the city’s original mission and vision remain unchanged.
