Personal Loss Drives Community Initiative
The event is produced by Love Yourself, an organization founded by Blake Gardner following the death of his son by suicide. Gardner established the group to channel personal grief into community support, hoping to prevent others from enduring similar tragedies.
“We felt the need and the desire to help other people not have to experience what we’re experienced and want to help share a message of hope,” Gardner told the KMVT.
Tina Hanson, whose family has also faced profound loss, supports the initiative. Hanson lost one son to cancer five years prior to 2020, and another son to suicide in 2020. She emphasizes the value of silent companionship for those struggling with grief or mental health challenges.
“When you just even sit with someone that understands, there doesn’t have to be words,” Hanson told the KMVT.

Approximately 20 community resource groups will be present at the event. These organizations provide information on local mental health services, crisis intervention, and long-term support systems.
