Twin Falls County Plans Magic Valley’s First Safe Haven Baby Box

The Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office is working to install the Magic Valley’s first Safe Haven Baby Box at Rock Creek Fire Station in Kimberly.

The proposed location is 1559 Main St. N. The box would accept babies up to 30 days old. Twin Falls Sheriff Lieutenant Perry Barnhill said, “they can drop it off here up to 30 days old.”

Idaho House Bill 1058, passed in July 2025, enabled communities to install Safe Haven baby boxes. Three boxes have been installed in Idaho, while none have been installed in the Magic Valley.

Barnhill said the installations were not legally permitted until recent years, saying, “It was actually illegal to do something like this up until a few years ago.”
