Rescue Crews Save Parachutist Stuck Near Perrine Bridge

Emergency responders in Twin Falls County conducted a complex cliff rescue Monday night after a parachutist became stranded on a canyon wall near the Perrine Bridge.

Dispatchers received the initial call for assistance at approximately 7:45 p.m. The caller reported an individual caught on the rock face with a parachute attached. The incident took place on the west side of the bridge, specifically on the north side of the Snake River Canyon.

Sheriff Gary Taylor confirmed that the person was positioned roughly 50 feet above the ground. The elevation and terrain required specialized aerial support to ensure a safe extraction.

A multi-agency response included personnel from the Jerome County Sheriff’s Department, Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Department, local fire and EMS crews, and the SORT Team. Air St. Luke’s provided helicopter support for the operation.

The rescue helicopter touched down on the canyon floor around 8:15 p.m. Crews worked to secure the individual and prepare them for transport. By approximately 9:30 p.m., the person had been loaded into the aircraft.

Officials stated that the parachutist was conscious and alert throughout the ordeal. The patient was flown by air to Magic Valley Regional Hospital for evaluation.

As of Tuesday morning, authorities had not released information regarding the severity of any injuries or the circumstances leading to the entrapment. No further details were available from law enforcement.
