The College of Southern Idaho had plenty to celebrate beyond the athletic field this year, with 101 Golden Eagle student-athletes earning spots on NJCAA All-Academic teams for the 2025-26 school year — a milestone that reflects both the athletic and intellectual caliber of Twin Falls County’s community college programs.
Three Tiers of Academic Achievement
The NJCAA structures its yearly academic recognition across three tiers, each requiring a different grade point average threshold. At CSI, 40 student-athletes earned First Team All-Academic honors, meaning each recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA during the 2025-26 school year. Another 29 Golden Eagles landed on the Second Team, with GPAs between 3.9 and 3.99. The Third Team, which requires GPAs between 3.5 and 3.69, included 32 CSI athletes.
Combined, the 101 honorees represent a broad cross-section of CSI’s athletic programs, signaling that academic excellence is a priority embedded across the department — not concentrated in any single sport or squad.
Baseball and Women’s Basketball Lead the Way
CSI’s baseball program placed 20 players on All-Academic teams, making it one of the strongest individual contributors to the total. Three of those baseball players, including Ryder Cutlip, posted perfect 4.0 GPAs to claim First Team recognition.
The women’s basketball team posted the highest cumulative GPA of any CSI squad, finishing the 2025-26 year at 3.83. That achievement came alongside a strong run on the court as well — the Golden Eagles defeated Salt Lake Community College 65-46 on March 13, 2026, to claim the Region 18 championship and punch their ticket to the NJCAA National Tournament. The combination of athletic and academic success made the program one of the most decorated at CSI this season.
The men’s cross country team was close behind with an aggregate GPA of 3.81, rounding out the top two programs by team grade point average.
Department-Wide Culture of Excellence
Perhaps most impressive is the consistency across CSI’s athletic department as a whole. Every CSI team posted a GPA of at least 3.20, and five squads earned NJCAA Academic Team honors. The overall average GPA across all CSI teams exceeded 3.4 — a figure that reflects a genuine institution-wide commitment to keeping student-athletes accountable in the classroom, not just on the field or court.
That kind of academic culture matters especially at a community college, where many student-athletes are balancing coursework, athletics, jobs, and family responsibilities.
