Magic Valley Lines Up Fireworks, Parades, and Rodeos to Mark America’s 250th Birthday

Fire engine responding

From Twin Falls to Buhl and across the broader Magic Valley region, communities are rolling out an impressive lineup of Fourth of July festivities this year — and the celebrations carry extra weight as the nation marks its 250th birthday. Whether residents are looking for fireworks, parades, rodeos, or community gatherings, there is something happening close to home nearly every day from late June through mid-July.

Twin Falls Events Kick Off the Celebration

The party is already underway in Twin Falls. The America’s Big 250th Birthday Bash takes place today, Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Twin Falls Visitor Center — a free, family-friendly event marking the national milestone. For more details on today’s event, see our earlier coverage.

The main fireworks show over the College of Southern Idaho is set for Saturday, July 4, beginning around 10 p.m. at dusk. It promises to be one of the larger displays in the region and a fitting capstone to the area’s Independence Day activities.

Looking ahead, Twin Falls will host the America 250 Snake River Canyon Celebration on Wednesday, July 8, from 2:15 to 4:15 p.m. near the North Rim of the Snake River Canyon along the Shoshone Falls Road area. The event will feature a public reading of the Declaration of Independence and is part of the nationwide America 250 observance that is connecting communities in all 50 states. It is a rare opportunity to participate in a historically significant moment right here in Magic Valley.

Buhl, Jerome, and Mini-Cassia Join the Fun

Just down the highway, Buhl’s Sagebrush Days Celebration runs from July 1 through July 5, with main activities concentrated on July 3 and 4 in Downtown Buhl and Eastman Park. It is one of the region’s beloved annual traditions and a great option for families wanting a smaller-town Fourth experience.

In Jerome, the Freedom Fest fills both ICCU and Veterans Memorial Parks all day on July 4, with a fireworks display at dusk from Jerome High School. The event is free to attend and draws crowds from across the county.

Mini-Cassia communities are also in on the action. Rupert stretches its celebration across five days, from June 30 through July 4, centered at Rupert City Square and surrounding areas. In Burley, the Celebrates America 250 event launches at 4 p.m. on July 4 at Rivers Edge Park.

Hailey Packs In Parades, a Rodeo, and Fireworks

Residents willing to make the drive north to Hailey will find one of the most packed Independence Day schedules in the region. The Days of the Old West Parade steps off at noon on July 4 along Main Street. That same afternoon, the Fourth of July Riverfest runs from noon to 5 p.m. at Hop Porter Park.

For rodeo fans, the Sawtooth Rangers Rodeo takes place July 2 through 4 at Wertheimer Park in Hailey. It is the only ticketed event on this roundup — advance ticket purchase is required. All other events listed here are free to the public. Hailey caps its Fourth with a fireworks extravaganza at dusk.

What Comes Next

With events running from today through mid-July, Magic Valley residents have no shortage of ways to honor the nation’s 250th year of independence. Officials and organizers encourage families to arrive early at popular venues, plan for parking at fireworks displays, and check local city websites for any last-minute changes to schedules. The July 8 Snake River Canyon Declaration reading in Twin Falls remains one of the more distinctive offerings of the season — a moment linking this community to the broader national commemoration of America’s founding.
