Magic Valley Communities Gear Up for Fourth of July Weekend With Festivals, Rodeos, and Family Fun

As the nation marks its 250th anniversary this Independence Day, communities across the Magic Valley are hosting a wide range of events to celebrate — from smoked pig dinners and ghost tours to family rodeos and horseshoe tournaments. Whether you’re in Twin Falls, Buhl, Rupert, Burley, or Fairfield, there’s something happening close to home over the holiday weekend and beyond.

Here is a rundown of what’s planned across the region for the Fourth of July and surrounding days.

Twin Falls and Filer

Twin Falls will host Freedom Fest at Veteran’s Memorial Park from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 4. The event is one of the area’s signature Independence Day gatherings, bringing together food, entertainment, and community spirit to mark America’s semiquincentennial.

Craft and food vendors will be set up at the Twin Falls County Fair Grounds from 1:30 to 10 p.m. on July 4, giving residents a full afternoon and evening of shopping and dining options.

Looking further into July, the Salute to America’s Military is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 5 at City Park. Then on July 10 and 11, Good Neighbor Days will run from 5 a.m. to dusk at City Park, stretching the summer celebration well into the month.

In nearby Filer, a Smoked Pig Dinner is set for 4 p.m. on Friday, July 4 at Filer City Park — a community staple that draws families out for an evening meal together.

Rupert, Burley, and the Minidoka County Area

In Rupert, a carnival for kids runs from 2 to 3 p.m. on Friday, July 4 at Fremont Plaza, offering a fun afternoon option for families with young children. A family rodeo kicks off at 6 p.m. on both Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5 at the Minidoka County Fairgrounds — one of the more traditional ways Magic Valley residents have long celebrated Independence Day.

Over in Burley, family activities are scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 5 at Rivers Edge Park, continuing the holiday weekend into Saturday for those who want more than a single day of celebrating.

Fairfield, Hailey, and Buhl

The small community of Fairfield is packing the calendar on Saturday, July 5. A free pancake and sausage breakfast runs from 8 a.m. at the American Legion Hall, followed by a Sons of the American Legion Horseshoe Tournament beginning at 1 p.m. at the same location. A variety of activities are also planned at Fairfield City Park during the afternoon hours, making for a full day of hometown celebration.

In Hailey, the Sawtooth Rangers’ Rodeo at the Hailey Rodeo Grounds stretches across multiple days: performances are set for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 2; 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 3; and 6 a.m. on Saturday, July 5. The multi-day rodeo offers plenty of opportunities for fans of the sport to catch the action. The Blue Cow Antique Market will also be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both July 3 and July 4 at Roberta McKercher Park, and live music with food and drinks is lined up from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 5 at Hop Parker Park.

In Buhl, the lineup includes a Ghost Tour starting at noon on Friday, July 4 at the senior center, followed by a Fish Fry from 3 to 8 p.m. at the same location. For something with a little friendly competition, the community is hosting a Guns vs. Hoses event at 5 p.m. on July 4 at Buhl North Park — a crowd favorite pitting local firefighters against law enforcement. On Saturday morning, a pancake breakfast runs from 6 to 8 a.m. at the senior center.
