The Idaho Transportation Department and Idaho State Police are offering free winter driving safety classes in the Magic Valley.
The first scheduled class is Nov. 2 at the Idaho State Police building at 218 W. Yakima Ave. in Jerome. Additional class listings and registration links are available through the ITD website.
Classes are open to everyone and cover vehicle preparation, proper equipment, crash response, road conditions and snowplow safety.
The sessions may be especially useful for new drivers, young drivers with limited winter experience and new residents preparing for their first Idaho winter.
Travis Hitchcock, an engineer manager, said South Central Idaho winters can be difficult, but preparation is important. He also said the classes can help teens and new residents develop safe driving habits before winter conditions arrive.
