Crews working to contain the 1,500 acre Moore Fire off South Swan Falls Road

Firefighters working along South Swan Falls Road in Ada County successfully halted the forward spread of the Moore Fire Saturday, bringing a fast-moving grass and brush fire under control by Saturday evening.

Crews were first dispatched to the scene around 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The response included two overhead personnel, four engines, two dozers, two fire investigators, and one water tender assigned to battle the blaze.

Road Reopened, Public Not in Danger

By Saturday night, Swan Falls Road had been reopened to traffic following the successful containment effort. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that visitors and recreationists in the Swan Falls area were not in any active fire zone and remained safe throughout the incident.

Residents in the surrounding area were advised that smoke may remain visible for some time, even as the immediate threat from the fire’s forward progression was stopped.

Active Fire Season a Continuing Concern

The Moore Fire is the latest in a string of public safety incidents drawing emergency resources across the region this season. Twin Falls County has also seen its share of emergencies in recent weeks, including a fatal drowning involving a 12-year-old boy at Dierkes Lake Park and a shooting and vehicle pursuit that prompted a shelter-in-place order.

No injuries were reported in connection with the Moore Fire. Officials have not released information on the fire’s cause, though two fire investigators were among the resources assigned to the scene, suggesting an active investigation into the origin of the blaze.

What Comes Next: Fire investigators will work to determine the cause of the Moore Fire. Residents near the Swan Falls area should continue to monitor conditions as smoke remains possible in the area, and should follow any updated guidance from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.
