Firefighters working a wildfire near South Swan Falls Road in Ada County successfully halted the forward advance of the Moore Fire Saturday evening after the blaze was reported mid-afternoon.
Crews were dispatched to the fire around 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Resources deployed to the scene included two overhead personnel, four engines, two bulldozers, two fire investigators, and one water tender.
Road Reopened, Public Safety Confirmed
Swan Falls Road, which had been closed during firefighting operations, was reopened to traffic by Saturday night. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that people recreating in the Swan Falls area are not in the active fire zone and are considered safe.
Residents and visitors throughout the region should expect smoke to remain visible in the area as crews continue working the scene. The fire’s cause is under investigation, with two fire investigators among those assigned to the response.
The Moore Fire is among the latest public safety incidents drawing attention across southern Idaho this week. In Twin Falls County, a 12-year-old boy died after going underwater at Dierkes Lake Park, and authorities have also been dealing with the aftermath of a shooting and vehicle chase that prompted a shelter-in-place order.
