The Buhl School District Board of Trustees has placed a two-year supplemental levy on the upcoming November ballot, asking voters to approve an annual funding increase of $1.25 million.
District officials approved the measure at their August meeting, setting the stage for Idaho residents to cast their votes on Election Day, Nov. 3, 2026. The proposed levy would replace the current $650,000 annual authorization that has funded district operations through the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years.
Funding Breakdown
The additional revenue is earmarked for three primary operational areas: staffing, transportation, and curriculum resources. The largest share of the proposed funds—$750,000 annually—is designated for personnel costs. District leadership indicated these funds are necessary to retain certified teachers and essential support staff while maintaining competitive wages and stable class sizes.
Transportation services would receive $300,000 per year. This allocation covers regular bus routes as well as travel for extracurricular and co-curricular activities, ensuring students can access programs beyond the classroom.
The remaining $200,000 is set aside for curriculum and instruction resources. These funds will support the purchase of current educational materials, equipment, consumable supplies, and updated digital learning software to keep instructional tools modern.
Tax Impact
Under the proposal, the levy would cost property owners an estimated $8.92 per year for every $100,000 of taxable assessed property value. Voters will weigh this tax impact against the district’s stated need to maintain service levels and staff retention.
