Authorities investigating incident at Perrine Bridge

Emergency responders from multiple Twin Falls County agencies converged on the Snake River near the Perrine Bridge Tuesday evening after a person was discovered floating in the water below.

Investigators are working to determine whether the incident was the result of an accident or a suicide. No additional details about the individual have been released.

The response drew personnel from the Twin Falls Police Department, the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office, the Twin Falls Fire Department, Magic Valley Paramedics, and the Jerome County Sheriff’s Office — a significant multi-agency effort reflecting the seriousness of the situation.

The Perrine Bridge, which spans the Snake River Canyon at a height of more than 480 feet above the river, has historically been the site of both BASE jumping activity and, at times, tragic incidents. Its location makes water rescues and recovery operations particularly challenging.

The investigation remains active. Officials have not yet released the identity of the individual or provided an update on their condition.

Twin Falls County has seen several water-related emergencies in recent weeks. A 12-year-old boy died after going underwater at Dierkes Lake Park in Twin Falls earlier this month, and a motorcycle crash on Rock Creek Road sent two people to a hospital by air.

What Comes Next

Authorities are expected to release additional information as the investigation progresses. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Twin Falls Police Department or the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office directly.
