Emergency crews from multiple agencies responded to the Snake River near the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls on Tuesday evening after a person was discovered floating in the water below the iconic span.
The Twin Falls Police Department, Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office, Twin Falls Fire Department, Magic Valley Paramedics, and the Jerome County Sheriff’s Office all converged on the scene. Investigators are working to determine whether the incident was an accident or a suicide.
No additional details about the victim’s identity or condition have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
The Perrine Bridge, which rises more than 400 feet above the Snake River Canyon, has historically been a site of both BASE jumping activity and, at times, tragedies. Its proximity to the river makes response coordination across multiple agencies a common necessity.
The incident is the latest in a series of waterway-related emergencies in Twin Falls County this season. A 12-year-old boy died after going underwater at Dierkes Lake Park earlier this month, drawing widespread attention to water safety in the area.
