Firefighters working a wildfire near South Swan Falls Road in Ada County managed to halt the forward progress of the blaze Saturday evening, bringing a measure of relief to the Magic Valley region as warm-weather recreation season gets underway.
The fire was reported Saturday afternoon and crews mobilized quickly to address the threat. Resources deployed to the scene included two overhead personnel, four engines, two bulldozers, two fire investigators, and a water tender — a substantial response aimed at preventing the fire from spreading further into the surrounding terrain.
Road Reopened, Recreators Declared Safe
Swan Falls Road, which had been closed during active firefighting operations, was reopened to traffic by Saturday night. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that individuals recreating in the Swan Falls area were not in the path of the active fire and were considered safe.
Residents and visitors throughout the area were advised that smoke may remain visible for some time, even as containment efforts progressed. Authorities did not indicate any structures were threatened.
With summer activity ramping up across Twin Falls County and the broader Magic Valley, public safety officials have been kept busy responding to a range of emergencies in outdoor recreation areas. Earlier this month, a 12-year-old boy died after going underwater at Dierkes Lake Park in Twin Falls, a reminder of the hazards that can accompany the season’s increased outdoor activity.
What Comes Next
Fire investigators assigned to the scene will work to determine the cause of the Moore Fire. Officials have not yet released an official cause or damage assessment. Residents near the Swan Falls corridor should continue to monitor local emergency management channels for updates and remain alert to any renewed smoke activity in the area.
