Firefighting crews successfully halted the forward progress of the Moore Fire Saturday evening after the blaze broke out along South Swan Falls Road in Ada County, Idaho.
Personnel were dispatched to the scene around 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The response included two overhead personnel, four engines, two dozers, two fire investigators, and one water tender assigned to combat the fire.
Road Reopened, Public Not in Danger
The Ada County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Swan Falls Road, which had been closed during firefighting operations, was reopened Saturday night. Officials also stated that visitors and recreators in the Swan Falls area were not within the active fire zone and were considered safe.
Smoke from the fire remains visible across parts of the surrounding area, and residents should expect reduced visibility in the region.
Active Summer for Public Safety in the Magic Valley
The Moore Fire response comes during a busy stretch for public safety agencies across southern Idaho. Twin Falls County has also seen recent incidents draw emergency personnel, including a shooting and vehicle chase that resulted in a shelter-in-place order and left a suspect now facing criminal charges. Separately, a 12-year-old boy died after going underwater at Dierkes Lake Park in Twin Falls earlier this month, underscoring the range of emergencies facing first responders this season.
What Comes Next
Fire investigators remain on scene as part of the assigned resources, suggesting an active effort to determine the cause of the blaze. Crews will continue monitoring the fire perimeter. Residents and outdoor enthusiasts in the Swan Falls area should remain alert to any updated road or safety advisories from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office and follow guidance from local emergency management officials.
