Crews working to contain the 1,500 acre Moore Fire off South Swan Falls Road

Firefighting crews halted the forward spread of the Moore Fire near South Swan Falls Road on Saturday, bringing the blaze under control by Saturday evening after it burned approximately 1,500 acres in Ada County, Idaho.

Personnel were first dispatched to the area around 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The response included two overhead personnel, four engines, two bulldozers, two fire investigators, and one water tender — a substantial commitment of resources that helped crews stop the fire’s advance before nightfall.

Road Reopened, Public Not in Danger

Swan Falls Road, which had been closed during active firefighting operations, was reopened to traffic Saturday night. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that visitors and recreationists in the Swan Falls area were not in the active fire zone and remained safe throughout the incident.

Residents and travelers in the surrounding area may still notice smoke in the sky as firefighters continue mop-up operations. Officials have not indicated any structures were threatened.

The Moore Fire is one of several public safety incidents drawing attention across southern Idaho this week. Twin Falls County has also seen recent emergencies, including a fatal drowning involving a 12-year-old boy at Dierkes Lake Park in Twin Falls and an ongoing criminal case stemming from a shooting and vehicle chase that prompted a local shelter-in-place order.

No injuries related to the Moore Fire have been reported. Authorities have not released a cause of the fire as of Saturday night, though fire investigators were among the resources assigned to the scene.

What Comes Next: Fire investigators assigned to the scene will work to determine the origin and cause of the blaze. Residents near the Swan Falls corridor should continue to expect residual smoke in the area while crews complete containment and mop-up work. Updates from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office are expected as the investigation progresses.
