Authorities have identified Chad Williams, a former College of Southern Idaho student, as the shooter in the deadly incident at a Twin Falls In-N-Out Burger that left three people dead and two others wounded. Investigators determined Williams acted alone and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Williams attended College of Southern Idaho from August 2022 through December 2023 and held a position in student government before being removed from that office in February 2023. He did not complete a degree at the institution.
Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks told the public that “we understand there are many questions, and we will try to answer as many of those in time as we can,” according to reporting by KMVT. The statement acknowledged the community’s need for answers as investigators worked to piece together details of the incident.
Misinformation circulated on social media in the hours after the shooting, with false claims identifying another individual as the suspect. Police stressed that those claims were inaccurate and that Williams was the sole shooter.
