A vegetation fire that ignited near 2700 East and 3300 North in Twin Falls on July 4 spread quickly across multiple roadways before firefighters contained it, officials said.
The fire started at approximately 1:18 p.m. and moved toward nearby homes, crossing both sides of the roadway as wind pushed flames across the landscape. Twin Falls Fire Department, Salmon Tract Rural Fire Protection District, Shoshone Basin RFPA, and Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.
Despite the rapid spread, homeowners in the area were not evacuated because the fire had not reached any structures. No buildings sustained damage, and no injuries were reported. Fire officials have contained the blaze, though the cause remains under investigation.
The incident occurred during the Fourth of July holiday, when dry conditions and outdoor activities increase fire risk across southern Idaho. Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office recently skipped issuing fireworks permits in 2026 due to exceptional drought conditions, reflecting heightened fire concerns in the region.
What Comes Next: Investigators will continue examining the cause of the fire. Residents in Twin Falls County are advised to remain vigilant about fire safety, particularly during dry summer months and holiday periods when vegetation fires pose significant risk to homes and property.
