Twin Falls Man Faces 15 Felonies After Hidden Camera Recorded Nude Child

A 35-year-old Twin Falls man is being held on a $1 million bond after prosecutors say he secretly recorded nude images of a minor using a hidden camera inside a home, then destroyed evidence after being confronted about his actions.

The man was arraigned in court Monday on a total of 15 felony counts — a significant increase from the nine charges he originally faced when first charged in April. Prosecutors added six additional charges Thursday before the arraignment.

Charges and Alleged Timeline

According to court records, the man installed a hidden camera in his home and used it to record a minor girl without her knowledge. The alleged recordings took place last fall. A woman alerted law enforcement in April after discovering what had occurred.

When confronted, the man reportedly told police he set up the camera because he believed children in the home were misbehaving toward one another. Investigators say he deleted the recordings after being approached about the footage — an act that led to three separate felony counts for destruction or concealment of evidence.

The full charge breakdown includes nine counts of producing child sexually exploitative material, four counts of video voyeurism, and three counts of destruction or concealment of evidence. Each count carries serious potential prison time under Idaho law.

What the Record Shows

The escalating charge count reflects the seriousness with which Twin Falls County prosecutors are treating the case. Moving from nine to 15 felonies in the span of a few months indicates investigators and the prosecutor’s office have continued developing the evidentiary record since the initial filing in the spring.

The $1 million bond underscores the court’s assessment that the man poses a significant risk. Cases involving child exploitation material in Idaho can carry substantial mandatory minimums, and a defendant facing 15 felonies of this nature would be looking at the possibility of decades behind bars if convicted on all counts.

Twin Falls law enforcement and local prosecutors have been active in pursuing crimes against children in the Magic Valley area. Earlier this year, Idaho State Police arrested three men in Twin Falls in connection with trafficking over 11 pounds of methamphetamine, a case that also highlighted the region’s ongoing public safety challenges.

What Comes Next

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for July 10, at which point a judge will determine whether sufficient probable cause exists to proceed toward trial on all 15 felony counts. That hearing will give both the prosecution and defense an opportunity to present initial arguments about the strength of the evidence.

If the case moves forward, the defendant could face trial on each of the 15 counts separately or in combination, depending on how the court structures proceedings. Given the volume of charges and the nature of the alleged offenses, the case is expected to draw continued attention in Twin Falls County District Court.

The defendant’s name has not been published at this time pending confirmation of charges through the preliminary hearing process.
