Twin Falls County Schools Begin New Year with Traditional Bus Routes and Parking Lot Preparations

Sawtooth Valley, Idaho

The 2026 school year officially began Wednesday, August 19, with yellow buses returning to roadways across Twin Falls County. Frontier Elementary School in Jerome welcomed students back to classrooms, marking the start of a new academic cycle.

In preparation for the reopening, Richard Dashiell, acting director of transportation for the school district’s bus division, had outlined driving safety guidelines earlier in the month. The emphasis on safe transportation came as families prepared for the transition back to school schedules.

At Canyon Ridge High School in Twin Falls, administrators offered students an additional option for commuting to campus. The school made available personalized parking spots for $40 per student, with a painting event held August 13 allowing students to customize their designated spaces with designs and artwork.

The return to classes represents a significant moment for families across the Magic Valley, as students settled into new classrooms and routines following the summer break. With transportation infrastructure in place and parking arrangements finalized, schools were positioned to begin instruction for the fall semester.

What Comes Next: Twin Falls County schools will continue regular instruction throughout the fall, with extracurricular activities and athletic programs ramping up. Parents and students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with transportation schedules and parking procedures as the academic year progresses.
