Rock Creek Cemetery Maintenance District Formally Established After Voters Back Levy

Twin Falls County commissioners have formally adopted a resolution creating the Rock Creek Cemetery Maintenance District, following voter approval of a maintenance levy that cleared with 53 percent of the vote.

Under the new district, property owners will be assessed $16 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value annually, with payments set to begin in 2027.

Board Seats Open for Qualified Residents

With the district now officially established, the county is actively seeking residents to serve on the governing committee. A commissioner noted that while a full board consists of five members, at least three are needed before the district can begin operating. All committee members must reside within the boundaries of the cemetery district.

Residents interested in serving can find an application at twinfallscounty.org.

What Comes Next

The newly formed maintenance district will depend on its governing committee to oversee operations and manage funds collected through the levy once billing begins in 2027. Filling those committee seats is the immediate next step — without at least three confirmed members, the board cannot be constituted and the district’s work cannot formally begin. Eligible Twin Falls County residents who live within the cemetery district are encouraged to apply through the county’s website.
