Buhl’s Burley Avenue Closes This Week for Phase 1 Road Reconstruction
BUHL, Idaho — Drivers traveling through Buhl should plan for detours this week as the city launches Phase 1 of a major street reconstruction project along Burley Avenue.
The closure, which began May 11 and runs through May 15, affects Burley Avenue in both directions from N 1450 E to just past Milner Street. No through traffic is permitted during this phase, though local access is maintained, and emergency vehicles as well as area businesses retain access to the corridor.
What the Project Covers
The broader Burley Avenue Project is designed to rebuild approximately one mile of roadway stretching from Fruitland Road to the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and State Highway 46. Improvements include new pavement markings, curb installation, gutters, and sidewalks — upgrades that will significantly modernize one of Buhl’s primary travel corridors.
City officials are encouraging residents and commuters to identify alternate routes ahead of time and to anticipate minor travel delays during the construction window.
What Comes Next
Phase 1 is expected to wrap up by May 15, though the full scope of the reconstruction project will continue beyond this initial closure. Drivers should monitor city announcements for updates on future construction phases and any additional road impacts.
The Burley Avenue project is one of several infrastructure developments affecting travel across Twin Falls County this spring. A temporary closure of I-84 and intermittent ramp closures at Exit 211 is also underway in the region, and officials recently approved boat ramp access adjustments tied to hydroelectric facility upgrades along the Snake River. Residents are advised to stay current on local road and facility changes as the busy construction season continues.
