Magic Valley Claims 13 Spots on 2026 Idaho High School Baseball All-State Rosters

Mountain Home Air Force Base

High school baseball programs across the Magic Valley made their presence felt on the 2026 Idaho all-state rosters, with 13 local players earning recognition from coaches statewide. The selections span multiple classifications and reflect a strong postseason showing from the region.

How the All-State Process Works

Idaho high school baseball coaches voted to determine all-state rosters across all five classifications — 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A. Each classification produced two 11-player teams, giving a total of 22 spots per class for players to compete for across the state. The process puts selection authority directly in the hands of the coaches who see these athletes compete throughout the season.

Magic Valley’s 13 selections represent a meaningful slice of those available spots, demonstrating the region’s depth of talent at multiple levels of competition.

Standout Players from the Magic Valley

Among the most decorated local honorees was Canyon Ridge senior Christian Waitley, who earned a spot on the 2A all-state team after a dominant offensive campaign. Waitley, who plays first and third base, led the 2A classification in batting average, slugging percentage, and on-base percentage — a statistical sweep that earned him 2A High Country Conference offensive player of the year honors as well.

The recognition comes as Waitley prepares for the next level. He has signed a letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Spokane Falls Community College, giving him a platform to build on what has been an exceptional senior season in Twin Falls County.

Buhl’s Porter Higley also earned recognition, earning a nomination to the 2026 4A all-Idaho baseball team. Higley’s selection came despite a tough stretch for the Buhl program late in the postseason. On April 29, Kimberly defeated Buhl 19-4 to clinch the 4A District 4 tournament and advance to the 4A super-regional play-in round. Higley’s individual performance throughout the season was enough to draw the attention of coaches across the classification.

Kimberly’s Run and Regional Competition

The Kimberly Bulldogs were one of the Magic Valley’s stronger programs in the 4A bracket this spring. Their dominant tournament-clinching win over Buhl sent them into super-regional play-in competition, keeping their postseason alive deeper into the calendar than many area programs. District tournament play in Idaho high school baseball is an important proving ground, and Kimberly’s run reflected well on the program heading into the offseason.

Regional competition within the Magic Valley remained fierce throughout the spring. A mid-season matchup between Buhl and Filer on April 8 was among the games that set the tone for district seeding, with area programs jockeying for favorable playoff positioning.

What Comes Next

With the 2026 high school baseball season now complete, the focus shifts to offseason development and the next chapter for this year’s graduating class. Christian Waitley’s commitment to Spokane Falls Community College gives him a clear path forward, and his 2A all-state recognition strengthens his profile heading into collegiate competition.

For underclassmen who earned all-state recognition this spring, the honors serve as motivation heading into summer ball and the 2027 season. Magic Valley programs have now demonstrated they can compete for all-state hardware across multiple classifications, and coaches will look to build on that foundation.
