Kimberly Closes Emerald Street South for Week-Long Road Construction

Street Closure Begins Monday

A section of Emerald Street South in Kimberly will be shut down for roadway construction starting Monday, April 13, 2026, according to city officials.

The closure affects the stretch of Emerald Street South between Stonegate Avenue and 3600 North. Work is scheduled to continue through Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

The street will be blocked to through traffic each day from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the construction period. Drivers can expect delays and heightened construction activity throughout the work zone during those hours.

Detours and Alternate Routes Recommended

City officials are advising motorists to plan their routes in advance and avoid the affected area while crews complete the roadway improvements. No through traffic will be permitted during the daily closure windows.

The project is part of ongoing efforts to upgrade local road infrastructure in Kimberly, a city of roughly 4,000 residents in Twin Falls County.

Public Works Contact Information

Kimberly officials expressed appreciation for residents’ patience as the construction work proceeds. Anyone with questions about the project or closure can reach out to the city for more information.

Brian Reed, who serves as both Public Works Director and City Engineer for Kimberly, and City Administrator Craig Eckles are available to answer inquiries. Both can be contacted at the city offices by calling 208-423-4151.

What Comes Next

The roadway work is expected to wrap up by the evening of April 21, with Emerald Street South reopening to normal traffic flow shortly after. City officials have not specified the exact nature of the improvements being made, but the project is part of broader infrastructure maintenance efforts in the growing Magic Valley community.

Drivers in the area should continue to watch for construction signage and follow posted detour routes throughout the week-long closure.
