The Idaho Water Resource Board is accepting applications for grants to repair and upgrade aging irrigation infrastructure across the state, with a deadline of August 7.
The program funds projects involving water delivery systems, storage facilities, drainage infrastructure, and treatment systems. Municipal drinking water and wastewater projects fall outside the scope of eligible work.
Individual projects may receive up to $2 million in grant funding. The IWRB’s contribution is capped at 50 percent of total project costs, meaning applicants must secure matching funds for the remainder of their expenses.
Idaho’s irrigation infrastructure underpins the state’s agricultural economy, and many systems in use today date back decades. The aging infrastructure grant program aims to help water districts, canal companies, and similar entities modernize facilities that deliver water to farms and ranches throughout the region.
