Filer Fish Fry Fundraiser Draws Crowd at Twin Falls County Fairgrounds for Over Two Decades

A beloved Magic Valley tradition returned to the Twin Falls County Fairgrounds this week as the annual Filer Fish Fry Fundraiser once again drew a crowd large enough to stretch lines out the door.

The event, which has been held at the fairgrounds for more than 20 years, featured rainbow trout as its centerpiece — fish donated by Riverence Production LLC, a Buhl-based aquaculture company that produces roughly 80 percent of the world’s rainbow trout supply from operations here in the valley.

Local Business Steps Up With Key Donation

Organizer Karen Stoker credited Riverence’s generosity as essential to the event’s success. “Thankfully we have Riverence — they are so gracious, they donated the fish to us,” she said. Plates served to attendees were rounded out with hush puppies, coleslaw, baked beans, and custard.

Fellow organizer Ray Strolberg noted that attendance has climbed steadily over the years he has been involved, calling it consistent, year-over-year growth. The packed fairgrounds this week appeared to bear that out.

A Community Staple in Twin Falls County

Events like the Filer Fish Fry reflect the tight-knit community character that defines small-town life across Twin Falls County. The fairgrounds have provided a gathering point for residents from Filer, Buhl, and surrounding communities for generations, and the Fish Fry’s two-decade run is a testament to that enduring local spirit.

For those looking to stay connected to community happenings across the area, the Twin Falls downtown summer market and concert series offers another opportunity to get out and enjoy the season with neighbors this summer.

Details on future Fish Fry dates and fundraiser beneficiaries can be obtained by contacting event organizers directly through the Twin Falls County Fairgrounds.
