Golden Eagles Add Offensive Depth with Hansen, Shoemaker Signings
College of Southern Idaho’s softball program has bolstered its roster for the upcoming season, signing two standout players with strong track records at the high school and junior college levels.
The Eagles secured Adi Hansen, a two-time state champion who was recruited away from the University of Oklahoma. Hansen won a Region 16 championship and reached the 2026 NJCAA National Softball Tournament, earning First-Team All-American honors. CSI will use Hansen to strengthen its outfield position and capitalize on her proven performance at the national level.
The program also added Taylor Shoemaker, a graduate of Owyhee High School who brings championship experience and exceptional speed to the base paths. Shoemaker was a member of two Idaho 5A state championship teams with the Storm, helping deliver consecutive titles to the Magic Valley program.
Shoemaker’s Senior Season Performance
During her senior season in 2026, Shoemaker established herself as a dynamic offensive threat. She posted a .410 batting average with 63 hits and drove in 16 runs. Her baserunning ability set her apart in the state’s most competitive classification—Shoemaker stole 22 bases during the season, ranking seventh-most among all Idaho 5A players.
Shoemaker’s speed on the base paths was instrumental in Owyhee’s title run. She appeared in four games where she recorded multiple stolen bases, demonstrating the kind of aggressive, high-percentage baserunning that translates well to college competition.
Strategic Fit for CSI’s Offense
CSI’s coaching staff made both signings with specific offensive goals in mind. The addition of Hansen addresses the need for experienced outfield depth, while Shoemaker’s recruitment signals the program’s emphasis on speed and aggressive baserunning. CSI has indicated it is attempting to match Hansen’s baserunning output with Shoemaker’s contributions, building a more dynamic offensive system.
The signings reflect a broader trend in junior college athletics: programs are placing increased emphasis on recruiting proven high school performers who can compete at the NJCAA level. Both players bring not just individual statistics, but championship mentality developed through winning programs.
Shoemaker’s achievements at Owyhee High place her among the top base stealers in Idaho’s 5A classification and underscore the quality of athletes emerging from Magic Valley schools. Her batting average and hit total demonstrate well-rounded offensive skill beyond pure speed.
What Comes Next
Hansen and Shoemaker will begin their CSI careers in the 2026-2027 season. The signings position the Golden Eagles to compete in regional competition and work toward postseason opportunities. Both players bring the kind of proven championship experience that college coaches value when building sustainable winning programs.
For Shoemaker, joining CSI represents a natural progression for a two-time state champion seeking to continue her athletic career at a higher level while maintaining close ties to the Magic Valley. For Hansen, the transfer from Oklahoma provides an opportunity to compete at the national level while contributing to a regional powerhouse.
The Golden Eagles will rely on both players to develop chemistry with returning roster members and establish the kind of offensive consistency that can sustain a competitive postseason run in the NJCAA.
