CSI baseball player Ryder Cutlip commits to Utah Valley University

CSI Baseball Player Ryder Cutlip Commits to Utah Valley University After Helping Golden Eagles Claim Idaho Conference Title

Meridian Native Announces Next Step After Strong Season at College of Southern Idaho

A standout player from the College of Southern Idaho baseball program has announced his commitment to a four-year university, capping a productive run in Twin Falls with a major next step in his athletic career.

Ryder Cutlip, a Meridian native playing for the CSI Golden Eagles, announced he will join Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, beginning this fall. The commitment comes on the heels of one of the stronger individual seasons in the CSI program, as well as a landmark team accomplishment — the Golden Eagles clinched the Scenic West Athletic Conference regular season championship over the weekend.

The announcement was first reported by KMVT/KSVT on April 26, 2026.

Cutlip’s numbers this season speak for themselves. In 50 games of action, the outfield player is hitting .374 with 10 home runs and a .633 slugging percentage — a figure that reflects both his power at the plate and his consistency making contact. A slugging percentage above .600 is considered elite at any level of college baseball, and Cutlip’s mark places him among the more productive hitters in junior college baseball this season.

For CSI and Magic Valley sports fans, the commitment is a point of local pride. The Golden Eagles have long served as a pipeline to four-year programs across the region and nation, and Cutlip’s move to Utah Valley University continues that tradition. UVU competes at the NCAA Division I level in the Western Athletic Conference, giving Cutlip an opportunity to test his abilities against top-tier collegiate competition.

Golden Eagles Heading Into Region 18 Tournament

While Cutlip’s commitment marks an important personal milestone, the CSI Golden Eagles are not finished competing this spring. The team will open the Region 18 Tournament on Thursday at home, beginning at 4 p.m., hosting the fourth-seeded Colorado Northwestern in a best-of-three game series.

The Golden Eagles’ conference championship gives the program momentum heading into tournament play. A strong regional tournament showing could extend the season further and provide additional opportunities for CSI players — including Cutlip — to perform in front of four-year scouts and coaches before the summer.

For Twin Falls and the broader Magic Valley community, the Region 18 Tournament opener represents a chance to see one of the region’s top junior college baseball programs compete for a chance to advance deeper into postseason play. Home tournament games at CSI provide an accessible opportunity for local families, students, and sports fans to support Magic Valley athletics firsthand.

The College of Southern Idaho has built a reputation as one of Idaho’s premier two-year institutions, not only academically but athletically. Student-athletes like Cutlip represent the dual mission of the college: developing young people both on the field and in the classroom, then helping them transition successfully to the next chapter of their lives. Twin Falls County residents and Idaho families considering higher education options for students with athletic aspirations may find CSI’s program worth a closer look. Local student achievement extends beyond athletics as well — Twin Falls High School recently recognized its own academic standout, as highlighted in the Scholar of the Week profile of Valerie Black.

What Comes Next

For Ryder Cutlip, the next chapter begins at Utah Valley University this fall, where he will join the UVU baseball program and compete at the NCAA Division I level. His departure from CSI will come after the conclusion of whatever postseason run the Golden Eagles can put together this spring.

For the CSI Golden Eagles, attention now turns to Thursday’s Region 18 Tournament opener against Colorado Northwestern at home. A win would extend the season and give the defending Scenic West Athletic Conference regular season champions a shot at a deeper postseason run.
