Crews working to contain the 1,500 acre Moore Fire off South Swan Falls Road

Firefighters working a wildfire near South Swan Falls Road in Ada County successfully stopped the blaze from spreading further Saturday evening, bringing a measure of relief to crews who had been battling the Moore Fire since mid-afternoon.

Firefighting resources were dispatched to the scene around 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The response included two overhead personnel, four engines, two dozers, two fire investigators, and one water tender. By Saturday night, crews had halted the fire’s forward movement.

Road Reopened, Public Not in Danger

Swan Falls Road, which had been affected by the emergency response, was reopened to traffic by Saturday evening. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that people recreating in the Swan Falls area were not in the active fire zone and were considered safe.

Residents and visitors throughout the area may notice smoke remaining visible in the sky as cleanup and monitoring operations continue.

The Moore Fire comes during a period of heightened public safety activity across the Magic Valley region. Twin Falls County has also seen recent law enforcement incidents, including a shooting and chase that resulted in a shelter-in-place order and subsequent criminal charges against a suspect.
