A wildfire near Bliss burned approximately 478 acres Saturday before firefighting efforts halted its forward progress, according to multiple responding agencies.
The fire was discovered at approximately 9:20 a.m. on July 11. Bliss Fire, Hagerman Fire, the Ridgecrest Fire Protection Association, and the Bureau of Land Management mobilized to contain the blaze. Large smoke plumes were visible by 11 a.m.
By 3:50 p.m., most local resources had been released from the incident. The BLM assumed primary fire management authority and remained on scene for ongoing containment efforts. As of the reporting timeframe, all forward fire progression had stopped.
The rapid response and coordination among local and federal agencies prevented the fire from spreading further across the area. Previous vegetation fires in Twin Falls County have spread rapidly across roadways, underscoring the importance of swift containment during wildfire season.
What Comes Next
The BLM will continue mop-up and containment operations on the Reservoir Fire. Fire officials typically work to fully extinguish hot spots and establish defensible perimeters after initial suppression efforts. Residents in the affected area should remain alert for any further developments and heed any public safety directives from local authorities.
