Flames Visible From a Quarter Mile Away
Twin Falls firefighters responded to a fully involved structure fire in the early hours of Monday, June 22, after a caller reported seeing large flames from nearly a quarter mile away. The Twin Falls Fire Department arrived at approximately 1 a.m. to find a detached shop engulfed and a roof that had already partially collapsed.
Given the structural instability, crews shifted to a defensive attack — working to contain and extinguish the blaze from the exterior rather than entering the building. Their efforts paid off just before 3 a.m., when the fire was declared under control, roughly two hours after the initial response.
The shop and everything inside it were declared a total loss. A nearby storage container also sustained fire and smoke damage in the incident.
Multi-Agency Response Mobilized
The call drew a wide response across Magic Valley. Filer Fire Department, Rock Creek Fire District, Magic Valley Paramedics, the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office, Airport Operations, and Twin Falls Emergency Communications all assisted at the scene. The coordinated response reflected the seriousness of the blaze and its potential to spread.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
The fire comes during an elevated period of fire risk across southwest Idaho. A Red Flag Warning is currently in effect for southwest Idaho as lightning and wind raise fire danger across the region, and crews in the area have already seen significant wildfire activity in recent weeks, including the Median Fire near Wendell, which burned over 4,000 acres before being contained.
