Idaho State Police Pull Over Truck on Highway 93, Find $90,000 in Meth

A routine equipment violation stop on U.S. Highway 93 south of Twin Falls turned into a major drug bust last week when Idaho State Police troopers seized more than 11 pounds of methamphetamine from a northbound Ford F-150, authorities announced.

The stop occurred on June 11 at just before 4:30 p.m. During the contact, one of the vehicle’s occupants admitted that contraband was present inside the truck. A subsequent search turned up methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and prescription medication. ISP estimated the street value of the seized meth at approximately $90,000.

All three occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. One of the three faces an additional charge of unlawful possession of a prescription drug.

DHE Team at the Center of the Bust

The arrest was made by ISP’s Domestic Highway Enforcement team, a specialized unit operating under Governor Brad Little’s Esto Perpetua initiative. The team receives support through the Oregon-Idaho High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program and a counterdrug grant from the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

Sgt. Curt Sproat described the team’s mission as an ongoing effort to cut off drug supply lines throughout the state. “Our DHE team patrols throughout Idaho to identify and disrupt the trafficking of illegal drugs on our highways and in our communities,” Sproat said.

The seizure underscores the extent to which major drug corridors run directly through Magic Valley. Highway 93 serves as a key north-south artery connecting southern Idaho communities, including Twin Falls, to interstate routes and state lines — making it a frequent target for drug interdiction patrols.

Part of a Broader Statewide Effort

The DHE team’s work is part of a coordinated statewide push to combat drug trafficking at the highway level rather than waiting for distribution to reach local communities. By targeting trafficking routes directly, the program aims to reduce the volume of illegal substances that reach neighborhoods, schools, and families across Idaho.

Twin Falls County has seen ongoing law enforcement activity related to drug offenses and other criminal matters in recent months. In a separate case, the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a 19-year-old who violated release terms in a manslaughter case, reflecting continued pressure on local agencies to manage a range of public safety concerns.

What Comes Next

The three individuals arrested in connection with the June 11 stop face serious felony charges, with methamphetamine trafficking carrying substantial penalties under Idaho law. Their cases are expected to proceed through the Twin Falls County court system. ISP has not released the names of those arrested, which is consistent with standard procedure pending formal arraignment.

The DHE team’s patrols along Idaho highways are expected to continue as part of the Esto Perpetua initiative. Residents with information about suspected drug activity in Twin Falls County can contact the Idaho State Police or the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office directly.
