Power Pole Strike Closes Washington Street South in Twin Falls

A single-vehicle crash along Washington Street South in Twin Falls sent utility crews scrambling Wednesday afternoon after a vehicle struck a power pole, forcing lane closures and traffic diversions in the surrounding area.

The collision occurred in the 200 block of Washington Street South on June 4, 2026. No injuries were reported in connection with the crash.

Traffic Diverted, Utility Repairs Underway

Twin Falls Police Department officers responded to the scene and began redirecting traffic away from the affected stretch of road. Idaho Power and utility repair crews were called in to address damage to the pole, with lanes expected to remain closed for an extended period while work was completed.

Drivers in the area were advised to seek alternate routes and avoid Washington Street South until crews could safely restore the corridor to normal use.

Safety Reminder for Twin Falls Motorists

Utility pole collisions can create hazardous conditions well beyond the immediate crash site, including downed lines and compromised electrical infrastructure. Motorists are encouraged to remain alert to emergency personnel and equipment when traveling near active incident scenes.

This crash is among several recent roadway incidents in the Twin Falls area. A wrong-way driver caused a serious head-on collision near the Snake River Bridge, sending three people to the hospital, and a Buhl woman was killed on Highway 93 after a failure to yield at an intersection. Residents are reminded to stay attentive behind the wheel, particularly on busy thoroughfares throughout Twin Falls County.

What Comes Next

Idaho Power crews were working to complete pole repairs as of the time of the incident. The Twin Falls Police Department has not released additional details regarding the circumstances of the crash. Motorists should monitor local traffic updates and continue to avoid the 200 block of Washington Street South until authorities confirm the road has fully reopened.
