Crews working to contain the 1,500 acre Moore Fire off South Swan Falls Road

Firefighters stopped the forward spread of the Moore Fire Saturday evening after crews mobilized to the blaze off South Swan Falls Road in the Swan Falls area of Ada County, Idaho.

Personnel were first dispatched to the scene around 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Resources deployed to battle the fire included two overhead personnel, four engines, two dozers, two fire investigators, and one water tender.

Road Reopened, Residents and Recreators Advised to Stay Alert

Swan Falls Road, which had been affected by the incident, was reopened to traffic by Saturday night following the stabilization of the fire’s perimeter. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that individuals recreating in the Swan Falls area were not in the active fire zone and were considered safe.

Smoke remains visible throughout the surrounding region, and residents in the area are advised to remain aware of changing conditions. While crews made significant progress halting the fire’s advance, officials have not yet reported full containment.

Public safety officials in the Magic Valley and broader southern Idaho region have dealt with several emergencies in recent weeks. A shooting and vehicle chase that prompted a shelter-in-place order in the area also recently resulted in charges against a suspect.

What Comes Next

Fire investigators assigned to the Moore Fire are expected to continue working to determine the cause of the blaze. Crews will remain on scene to monitor conditions and prevent any renewed forward movement. Residents near the Swan Falls corridor are encouraged to watch for updated guidance from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office as the situation develops.
