Crews working to contain the 1,500 acre Moore Fire off South Swan Falls Road

Firefighters halted the forward spread of the Moore Fire Saturday evening after the blaze broke out along South Swan Falls Road in Ada County, Idaho, drawing a significant response from local and regional resources.

Crews were first dispatched to the scene around 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The response included two overhead personnel, four engines, two dozers, two fire investigators, and one water tender deployed to help bring the roughly 1,500-acre fire under control.

Road Reopened, Public Not in Danger

Swan Falls Road, which had been closed during active firefighting operations, was reopened to traffic by Saturday night. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that visitors and recreators in the Swan Falls area were not in the active fire zone and were considered safe.

Residents and travelers in the surrounding region may still notice smoke in the sky as crews continue to monitor conditions in the burn area.

What Comes Next

While forward progress has been stopped, fire investigators assigned to the scene will work to determine the cause of the blaze. Crews are expected to remain on site to monitor for any flare-ups and ensure full containment is maintained. Residents near the Swan Falls corridor should continue to watch for smoke and follow any guidance issued by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office. This summer has already brought public safety challenges to the Magic Valley region — including a shooting and pursuit that led to a shelter-in-place order in Twin Falls County. Authorities are urging the public to stay clear of active fire areas and report any new smoke sightings to local emergency services.
