Early voting to kick off April 27 in Twin Falls County

Early Voting Begins April 27 in Twin Falls County, Idaho

Twin Falls County Voters Can Cast Ballots Starting Monday

TWIN FALLS, Idaho — Early voting will get underway Monday, April 27, at Twin Falls County West, giving registered voters in Magic Valley the opportunity to cast their ballots well ahead of Election Day. The early voting office is located on the first floor of Twin Falls County West, and officials say the process is straightforward for any registered voter who brings the required identification.

Early voting hours will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, continuing through May 15. The window gives Twin Falls County residents several weeks to participate in the upcoming election at their convenience rather than waiting for a single designated Election Day.

The early voting opportunity comes as Twin Falls County heads into a primary season that includes several contested races. Among them, Casey Swensen is challenging incumbent Josh Kohl in the Idaho State Senate District 25 Republican primary, a race that has drawn attention from voters across the Magic Valley region.

What Voters Need to Bring — and How to Register

All registered voters are required to present personal identification before casting a ballot, whether voting early at County West or on Election Day at their assigned precinct. Idaho law provides a clear list of accepted forms of identification for this purpose.

Accepted identification includes an Idaho driver’s license or identification card issued by the Idaho Transportation Department, a passport or identification card — including a photograph — issued by an agency of the United States government, a tribal identification card that includes a photograph, or a license to carry concealed weapons or an enhanced license to carry concealed weapons.

Voters who are unable to present any of the above forms of identification may complete an affidavit at the polls. Officials also note that voters registering for the first time will need to provide one of the approved photo IDs along with proof of residence. If the address on the photo ID does not match the voter’s current address on record, additional proof of residence documents will be required to complete registration.

The last day to pre-register to vote is May 8. However, Idaho law also permits same-day registration — voters may register and cast their ballot during the early voting period or on Election Day itself, provided they bring the required documentation.

To qualify to vote in Twin Falls County, an individual must be a citizen of the United States, be at least 18 years of age, be a resident of both the state of Idaho and Twin Falls County for at least 30 days prior to Election Day, and be registered as required by law.

Voters registering will need to provide either their Idaho driver’s license or identification card number, or, if they do not possess one, the last four digits of their Social Security number.

Election Context and Civic Participation

Twin Falls County has seen growing civic engagement in recent election cycles. County records show that more than 26 percent of eligible voters had cast their ballots before Election Day in the October 2024 election, reflecting increased interest in the early voting option among local residents.

The upcoming primary takes place against a backdrop of active state-level policy discussion. Governor Brad Little recently recapped the 2026 Idaho legislative session at the Twin Falls Public Library, addressing the policy decisions made during the session that directly affect Magic Valley communities and taxpayers statewide.

Voter turnout in primary elections often lags behind general elections, and county officials are encouraging eligible residents to take advantage of the extended early voting window to make participation more accessible.

Voters with questions about the process, polling locations, or registration requirements are encouraged to contact the Twin Falls County Clerk’s office directly at 208-735-4004.

What Comes Next

Early voting opens Monday, April 27, and runs through May 15 at Twin Falls County West. The voter registration deadline for those who wish to pre-register is May 8, though same-day registration remains available. Election Day falls shortly after the close of the early voting window. Residents are urged to confirm their registration status and gather required identification before heading to the polls.
